American Airlines cancels passenger’s return flight because he ‘never flew on the original’

LOS ANGELES —

Steve Homen stands around 6-foot-3 so he is easy to see. Unless he is in an American Airlines flight that’s where he is seemingly undetectable, leaving no trace behind.

“No hint at all,” Homen explained. “I will tell you I had one cream and sugar with my coffee, however they do not have any hint of me at all.”

Homen understands this since American Airlines informed him. He’d reserved a roundtrip flight out of LAX to San Jose with this weekend. Homen, who’s a cousin of Eyewitness News reporter Rob Hayes, flew to San Jose on Friday but soon discovered his flight had been pinpointed.

“They let me’It is canceled since you never jumped on the first airport’ I said ‘I sure did. I’ve got it and what,'” Homen explained.

He shared movie he’d onboard the struggle revealing the takeoff and landing. Homen reported the airport attendants failed a passenger count. He revealed Eyewitness News his flight verification and he utilized the American Airlines program to buzz during boarding.

“After I snapped it, I saw it turn green and he allowed me onto the airplane,” he explained.

However, when Homen known as American for assistance, ” he said that the airline insisted that he was not on the excursion. That supposed American mechanically canceled the remaining portion of the trip and that he would need to devote an extra $200 to reserve a return journey to Los Angeles.

However, Homen explained the aggravation and cost is not the sole concern. He would like to understand how American enabled a passenger to board without even understanding who he was, something Homen feels introduces security and safety concerns.

“Anyone might have been on this trip,” he explained. “Imagine if I had a medical crisis? They obviously stated they had no record of me onto that flight ”

An American Airlines spokesman admits there’s not any listing of Homen on this flight. He adds a mix-up similar to this is very rare, but there was no safety dilemma since each passenger had to maneuver through TSA screening.

The airline can be refunding the additional $200 Homen needed to cover a brand new airport home.
