Albany, NY Chandler Atkins, President of Quik Flight, LLC an air
charter/air ambulance company based at Albany International Airport,
announced today that Quik Flight is looking for investors to help
them expand. Quik Flight would like to add Jet aircraft charter
and ambulance service in the Albany area to reduce the costs of
private air service for business, leisure and medical customers.
Currently, there is no private jet service out of Albany International
Airport for individuals, companies or hospitals except for fractional
jet ownership. This means that aircraft has to be flown into the
Capital District from outside the area to transport individuals
when their moments count. This adds relocation costs that can double
or triple the normal cost of private air charter or air ambulance
service.
For instance, an air ambulance
flight performed by Quik Flight in August from Albany International
Airport to Dulles International in Washington DC cost $5,300 when
the next closest bid was $15,000 simply because Quik Flight is local.
Another example in November, Quik Flight performed a trip from Albany
International for a patient from Albany Med for $4,100. This came
after Albany Med rejected the first bid of $33,000 and a second
bid for $11,000. "I am proud of the fact that we are helping to
drive down the cost of health care for our community," said Atkins.
Atkins believes, "our communities need safe, reliable and affordable
private air transportation to help our region grow and prosper whether
it is through Albany Med's reinstated heart transplant program,
transporting a child to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, assisting
nanotech executives in need of travel to sister locations or promoting
our natural tourist attractions."
Quik Flight has a goal at this time to bring an aircraft under
management every six months. Currently operating with a Cheyenne
I twin-engine turboprop jet, Atkins says, "They have demand for
up to two mid size jets for air ambulance,
one mid size jet for air charter and one heavy jet for air charter."
The air ambulance jets would be
used for flights between Florida and the Northeast as well as international
flights to Europe and Canada. The mid size jet for air charter would
be used for destinations of up to 1500 miles such Florida, Texas
or the mid West while the heavy jet such as a Falcon or Gulfstream
could be used for coast-to-coast travel. Planes positioned in Albany
would be ideally suited for customers in Boston, Hartford, NYC,
NJ, Philadelphia and Toronto. "These are the towns we have to go
to get aircraft for Albany customers, why not send our planes to
these customers and make money for our local investors," cites Atkins.
After these goals have been meet Quik Flight will begin to look
into the light jet market that is emerging in 2006 to transport
the flow of customers now moving into air charter who have been
looking for alternatives to commercial airline travel for a variety
of reasons.
Quik Flight, LLC began operations in Glens Falls, NY in the fall
of 2002. Quik Flight moved to Schenectady in 2003 and in March of
2004 moved to Albany International Airport. Quik Flight performed
their first air ambulance trip on
Easter of 2004. They may be reached at 16 Jetway Drive, Albany,
